- ViewPS is a adaptation of MacGhostscript to make it compatible
- with CMacTeX. Other than the ghostscript code itself, about the
- only things remaining from MacGhostscript are the postscript
- operators define in gs_cmactex.ps. The support files for viewPS
- are included in viewps-support1.hqx and viewps-support2.hqx.
- These files constitute a segmented archive so you must have both
- of them to unpack either one. If you already have a copy of
- MacGhostscript 252b2 or 252b3 there is no need to download
- these support files. The initialization and font files are the same.
- All you need to do is copy gs_cmactex.ps to the ╥system╙ folder inside
- the ╥gs╙ folder. Gs_cmactex.ps is the replacement for gs_mac.ps.
-
- During its operation viewPS will have to read various initialization
- and font files. The necessary files are included in subfolders of the
- folder ╥gs.╙ The default search paths for viewPS include all of the
- subfolders of the ╥gs╙ folder. The default search paths require that
- the ╥gs╙ folder be placed in the same folder as the viewPS application.
- If you rename the ╥gs╙ folder or place it in a different folder than the
- viewPS application you will have to set the library search paths from
- the Options Menu in viewPS.
-
- This application is intended primarily as a program to preview postscript
- files created by dvips. For previewing you should set the resolution (dpi)
- of viewPS to 72. The program can be used to print postscript files on
- a non-postscript printer. For best results the resolution should be set
- to the maximum resolution of your printer (360 for a StyleWriter). Only
- one page may be printed at a time, so this is not really a viable option
- for those users who wish to print postscript on a non-postscript printer.
